First No-Hitter in Cincy Flames Fastpitch History catapults team to Championship Game! -

The Cincy Flames Family would like to give a shout out to the 14U Flames Fastpitch Girls on their runner-up finish in the Cincy Flames Classic this past weekend!

The Cincy Flames 14U fastpitch team defeated #1 seed Cincy Elite in the semi-finals 10-0 in what coach Kevin Dunn called a "truly special game due to the contributions from every single member of the team. All 11 players either scored a run or had an RBI, including 7 different scoring runs. There were so many instances where kids made winning contributions that might go unnoticed.in the box score, but undoubtedly set the tone and put us in position for such a great team win. For example, Leah Anstaett battled in two early at bats against a great pitcher to help runners advance that later scored in the inning. Those type of little things are big things in important games."

Olivia Basil led the defensive effort pitching a no-hitter with 9 K's, throwing the 1st no-hitter in Flames Fastpitch history!! "Her stuff was ELECTRIC and her changeup was the best it's been all season. Cincy Elite is a great team and their lineup is deep. To negotiate that lineup without allowing a hit speaks volumes of her performance"

Basil was supported by an outstanding defensive play in LF by Carly Rethman, as well as plays by first base girl Annie Katuska, third base girl Addi Kasselman and multiple defensive gems from second base girl Avery Dunn, who preserved the no-hitter in the 4th inning on a deflected ball.

Catcher Grace Reuss was outstanding at the other end of the battery that resulted in the no-hitter, as well as providing offensive contributions.

Cincy Elite was the #1 seed and defending Cincy Flames Classic Champions.

SS Cadence Schmidt and OF Lucy Laudeman recorded 3 hits each to pace the offense. Allie Shafer and Caroline Langworthy had key two-out, run producing hits.

Well Done, Girls and Coaches and Families!
